Stadtwerke Remscheid commissions the software manufacturer AMCON to implement a new central sales background system.
AMCON (January 17, 2022) – Stadtwerke Remscheid GmbH operates a fleet of 90 buses across 29 routes, providing public transport services in Remscheid and the surrounding region.
To better meet the growing demands of digitalization in public transport sales, Stadtwerke Remscheid launched a Europe-wide tender in 2021 for the procurement of a new central sales system. The contract was awarded to the Lower Saxony-based software company AMCON. With its industry solution, AMCON.SYSTEM, AMCON prevailed over well-known competitors and has now been commissioned to implement its software solution.
Project implementation began in January 2022. Various components of the existing system landscape will be replaced by modules from the AMCON.SYSTEM.
Digitalization and automation of sales processes in the focus of project implementation
Subscription and customer management as well as sub-ledger accounting are of particular importance to Stadtwerke Remscheid, as they are key to sustainably optimizing sales processes.
With AMCON.ABO, subscriptions for private customers, corporate clients, and students can be managed efficiently. Passenger data is maintained centrally, enabling consistent service from early childhood through to senior age. The system’s functionality at Stadtwerke Remscheid will be extended by AMCON.WEB, an online subscription solution. Via web portals, such as a customer portal, passengers can easily purchase tickets or subscriptions and manage their products and personal data at any time. In addition, reviewing authorities such as employers, schools, or municipalities will gain access to a separate corporate or school transport portal, allowing them to verify, approve, modify, or reject employee or student data. The web portals are connected to the subscription and customer management system via modern, open interface standards, ensuring all parties work with the same data in real time.
The AMCON.ACCOUNTING sub-ledger system automatically posts all transactions from the backend system to the appropriate customer and general ledger accounts. This ensures that bookkeeping remains up-to-date and well-organized. Revenue from sales across all devices connected to the backend system is booked directly to the correct debtor accounts. Revenue from external systems can also be recorded and posted, making AMCON.ACCOUNTING a highly flexible and efficient tool that supports Stadtwerke Remscheid’s broader digitalization and automation strategy.
“We’re pleased to have found in AMCON a partner that has made a name for itself in recent years for developing modern and innovative software solutions for public transport. We believe we are well-positioned with AMCON to face the challenges of the future. We look forward to a strong, trusting, and constructive collaboration,” said Uwe Solanka, Head of Sales at Stadtwerke Remscheid.
