Since 2012, AMCON has offered a dual study program in Business Informatics (B.Sc.) in cooperation with the IT & Business School (IBS) in Oldenburg. “In recent years, we have had more qualified applicants than available study places, so we looked for another partner university and chose Hochschule Weserbergland (HSW) in Hameln,” says Darius Rauert, Managing Director of AMCON GmbH. Applications are still open for prospective dual students for the upcoming winter semester 2019. AMCON has also arranged accommodation by providing a shared apartment for the students during their studies.
First visit with prospective students at HSW in Hameln
The first prospective students have already taken a trip to HSW with the training coordinator and HR department to visit the university and learn about the program. The feedback from the three applicants was very positive. Lukas Hein, a high school graduate from Clemens-August-Gymnasium Cloppenburg and a student assistant at AMCON, has already decided to start his studies there in August 2019. “I like that the focus here is on computer science and not so much on business administration. That’s why I’m really looking forward to starting the program in August,” says Hein. The other two applicants have also already signed contracts with AMCON.
Business Informatics in Weserbergland
At HSW, the Business Informatics degree takes six semesters to complete, awarding a Bachelor of Science with 180 ECTS credits. Admission requires a high school diploma (Abitur or Fachhochschulreife) and a training contract with AMCON. The program focuses more on computer science and less on business administration. At AMCON, application development is a mandatory specialization. Additionally, students can voluntarily take the IHK exam at the Oldenburg Chamber of Commerce. Practical and study phases alternate in three-month cycles until the fourth semester, after which the cycle switches to two-month intervals. To provide accommodation during their studies, AMCON will rent an apartment that serves as a shared flat for the aspiring software developers, so they incur no additional housing costs.
