AMCON implements multi-client capable subscription management at Hülsmann

AMCON has implemented a multi-tenant subscription solution for the bus company Hülsmann, based in Voltlage, which is now also being used by Verkehrsgesellschaft Landkreis Osnabrück (VLO), Weser-Ems Bus GmbH (WEB), and the bus companies Gronemann and Kalmer. Hülsmann acts as the system operator and has been using the UFHO subscription management system since last summer. The advantage: The tenants VLO and WEB access Hülsmann’s UFHO backend system directly via VPN remote connection and only see their own sales data, not that of the other bus companies. “The multi-tenant subscription management system from AMCON makes our work with the other transport companies much easier, and even more importantly no one can view the data of the other companies,” says Karl Hülsmann Jr.

Data is secure and billing is centralized

Data protection is an important issue across all industries and has been long before the GDPR came into effect. No one likes to disclose how many customers they have or how high their revenues are. With the new multi-tenant system, this challenge is resolved. Hülsmann, as the system operator, can only view the data of its own companies Gronemann and Kalmer, since it manages these areas itself. The subcontractors VLO and WEB retain control over their data, thanks to the extension of the UFHO system. When subscription customers register online for a ticket, the UFHO system assigns the user to the appropriate transport company based on postal code and tariff zone. All tenants access the same tariff database, so it only needs to be maintained once. In the UFHO backend system, VLO and WEB can only see their own data and continue processing the subscription applications. The output is done via single or batch processing through card printers. The photos of subscribers are cropped and scaled to a uniform size. Since the UFHO system is hardware-independent, transport companies can continue using their existing card printers. Monthly billing is carried out via the billing option and sent accordingly to both the students and the Osnabrück district.

Student administration in use at Hülsmann since summer 2019

The bus company Hülsmann has been using the web-based UFHO subscription management system for student tickets for over a year now, allowing students to register online for their desired ticket. Through a dedicated access area on the website, schools or funding bodies have the option to approve tickets and grant subsidies. In such cases, billing is carried out via SEPA direct debit. “The subscription management really saves us a lot of work compared to the old paper application forms. Everything is already digitized and can be easily processed by us. It’s enjoyable,” says Karl Hülsmann Jr. Subscriptions can be ordered via the website vos.info.

Cooperation between Hülsmann and AMCON

The bus company Hülsmann has been working with AMCON’s solutions for several years now. The company has equipped nearly 150 buses with the UFHO board unit or the tablet solution for ticket sales, real-time location tracking (RBL), and real-time data. Both the new student management system and the buses access a shared UFHO backend system and thus the same tariff database.
