Starting summer 2019, software from Cloppenburg will be used for BVG’s pilot project on 20 mobile ticket machines on selected tram lines. Together with hardware manufacturer Pyramid Computer, AMCON has launched a modern product that impressed the Berlin transport company with its design, ease of use, and robust build. The machines are operated via touchscreen, and ticket payments are cashless.

Pilot project examines future requirements for sales technology

The BVG project involves an 18-month pilot trial of mobile ticket vending machines to be deployed on selected tram lines. The focus is on identifying the requirements for the sales technology of the future, paving the way for an EU-wide, open tender following the project. The pilot is being conducted with AMCON’s solution and one other competitor. Both solutions will be evaluated primarily for technical feasibility, everyday usability, and passenger acceptance. “We are proud to be part of this project in Berlin. This is another milestone for our company on the way to becoming a full-service provider,” says Olaf Clausen, Managing Director of AMCON GmbH.
