AMCON achieves VDV-KA certification with AMCON.MOBILE

The software manufacturer AMCON has successfully passed the VDV-KA certification of the AMCON.MOBILE software in combination with the Android test device Point Mobile PM95.

Cloppenburg, December 10, 2024 – AMCON Software GmbH, a leading provider of software solutions for public transport sales systems, has successfully achieved VDV-KA certification for its AMCON.MOBILE software in combination with the Android-based inspection device Point Mobile PM95. This makes AMCON the only manufacturer to have certified its inspection software on a current Android device.

“We are proud of this outstanding team achievement,” said Olaf Clausen, Managing Director of AMCON. “There were numerous challenges that at first seemed unsolvable, but our team overcame them.”

The certification ensures interoperability with all components of the (((eTicket Deutschland system. The VDV eTicket Service (VDV-ETS), in collaboration with the test laboratory cetecom advanced, conducts comprehensive tests to verify that the hardware and software used function flawlessly with the VDV core application. These tests covered not only chip cards and the commonly used barcode types but also the newer Motics barcode.

The Point Mobile PM95 is a powerful Android device that has been specially adapted to the needs of the German public transport sector through close coordination between AMCON and the Korean manufacturer Point Mobile. Equipped with an in-display card reader, the PM95 in the AMCON Edition is optimized for ticketing solutions involving chip card inspections. The inclusion of two SAM modules meets current VDV-KA requirements for service provider terminals and also makes it a future-ready customer contract partner terminal, including for etiCore.

The VDV-KA certification applies exclusively to the combination of the Point Mobile PM95 device with the AMCON.MOBILE software.

Successful cooperation between Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn and AMCON

Cloppenburg/Chemnitz (December 5, 2024) – Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn (MRB), a company of the Transdev Group, has successfully completed the implementation of a new sales and inspection solution. The system went live as scheduled on December 1, 2024.

As part of its efforts to modernize and digitalize its sales processes, Transdev Mitteldeutschland GmbH commissioned AMCON to deliver and implement this comprehensive solution. The project included the provision of 160 mobile terminals, 15 ticket office workstations, associated peripheral devices, and a back-end sales system.

Digitization of control processes with AMCON.MOBILE

With the new solution, AMCON.MOBILE, MRB is now equipped to verify both traditional paper tickets and electronic tickets in various formats. The inspection process is fully digital and complies with the latest industry standards such as UIC 918.9 and VDV-KA. Even the processing of increased fare charges (EBE) is handled entirely digitally, significantly increasing the efficiency and accuracy of operations.

AMCON receives Lower Saxony Award for Especially Reliable Vocational Training 2024

Cloppenburg, August 15, 2024 – AMCON Software has been honored by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education with the “Lower Saxony Award for Especially Reliable Vocational Training 2024.” In the category “Industry and Trade,” the state recognizes the continuous commitment of the Cloppenburg-based software company to high-quality and sustainable vocational training.

The award is presented annually as part of the Alliance for Dual Vocational Training and highlights companies that provide young people with reliable professional prospects. This year’s award ceremony focused on the offering of career-oriented internships — an area in which AMCON has set standards for years.

“We are very pleased about this award,” said Olaf Clausen, Managing Director of AMCON. “Our training and internship programs are specifically designed to support young talent early on and enable them to successfully enter the professional world. AMCON implements revenue database for Abellio

AMCON wins EU tender for the procurement of a company-wide sales accounting and subledger accounting system (revenue database) for the Abellio subsidiaries Abellio Rail Mitteldeutschland and WestfalenBahn.

Cloppenburg/Berlin (July 1, 2024) – Abellio, a nationwide rail transport company, operates several regional rail networks across Germany. On a total of 28 lines, more than 1,600 employees ensure comfortable, reliable, and safe mobility for passengers. With 120 trains, Abellio achieves an annual operating performance of 25.5 million train kilometers. The operational management of Abellio’s rail networks, including Saale-Thuringia-Southern Harz, Diesel Network Saxony-Anhalt, and the Emsland and Mittelland Networks, is handled by Abellio Rail Mitteldeutschland GmbH based in Halle (Saale) and WestfalenBahn GmbH in Bielefeld.

To support current and future transport operations, Abellio Rail Mitteldeutschland and WestfalenBahn required a scalable, cross-company sales accounting and sub-ledger system (revenue database). This system is intended to archive sales data from contracted sales processes in compliance with accounting regulations, prepare it for various sales entities, and manage settlements. Against this backdrop, Abellio initiated an EU-wide procurement process in 2023, which AMCON has now won.

Central Revenue Database based on AMCON.ANALYTICS

Abellio Rail Mitteldeutschland and WestfalenBahn will implement AMCON’s central sales system featuring the AMCON.ANALYTICS module for cross-platform analysis and processing of all sales data streams.

Sales and revenue data from both companies will be transferred across channels, devices, and systems into the AMCON.SYSTEM’s revenue database. There, authorized personnel can view, verify, process, and statistically evaluate the data using configurable approval workflows, before the final data is passed on to the external general ledger.

Statistics, reports, and revenue declarations for the participating transport associations play a central role in this project. The revenue database will function as a data warehouse, enabling customized evaluations via AMCON.ANALYTICS, such as personalized user dashboards. This gives staff at both Abellio Rail Mitteldeutschland and WestfalenBahn maximum flexibility in generating tailored reports, with each company deciding independently how to analyze and output their data.

Verkehrsverbund Region Braunschweig relies on subscription & web solution from AMCON

Braunschweiger Verkehrs-GmbH, the subscription service provider of the Braunschweig regional transport association, has commissioned the software manufacturer AMCON to implement a cross-platform customer and subscription management system.

Cloppenburg/Braunschweig (May 13, 2024) – The Verkehrsverbund Region Braunschweig (VRB) manages the unified fare system for the region between the Harz mountains and the Heath, bringing together 19 transport companies and the regional authority as the public transport provider. Around 100 million passengers use buses and trains in the region each year, with more than 35,000 customers holding monthly subscription tickets.

Paperless Processes, eTicketing, and Accounting with AMCON.ABO

With the AMCON subscription solution, subscriptions can be configured, and customer data, customer relationships, and contract applications can be centrally managed. The system supports student transportation, job tickets, and private customer subscriptions. It also includes contract billing and receivables management as standard features of the new solution that will be implemented in the VRB service area.

AMCON.ABO is further enhanced by web-based sales and management platforms: Through AMCON’s end-customer portal, users can independently apply for subscriptions and manage their personal data, payment methods, and more online. The job ticket portal is designed for companies, providing them with simplified digital access to the D-Ticket job framework agreement with the VRB and tools for managing those contracts. The portal offers practical online features such as paperless application review and approval and comprehensive reporting.

The project also focuses on issuing electronic travel authorizations via VDV-KA smartcards and on implementing sub-ledger accounting for subscription billing. Just five months after project launch, by January 1, 2024, 18,000 eTickets were already issued to private and job ticket customers. Over the course of the year, smartcards for student transportation will follow, and all VRB subscriptions will be migrated to VDV-KA smartcards. An additional ticketing format, the digital wallet ticket, is also in preparation.

Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn commissions AMCON with the implementation of a new sales and control solution

Cloppenburg/Chemnitz (January 24, 2024) – Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn (MRB), operating under the Transdev Group brand, manages regional rail services in Saxony. This includes Regional Express Line RE 6 (Leipzig–Chemnitz), Regionalbahn Line RB 110 (Leipzig–Döbeln), and the electric network in Central Saxony, including RE 3 (Dresden–Hof), RB 30 (Dresden–Zwickau), and RB 45 (Chemnitz–Elsterwerda).

As part of modernizing and digitalizing its sales processes, Transdev Mitteldeutschland GmbH engaged AMCON to deliver a new sales and inspection solution. This includes the provision of 150 mobile terminals, 15 ticket office stations, associated peripherals, and a back-end sales system.

Digitizing Ticket Inspections with AMCON.MOBILE

The central goal of the implementation is to support both ticket sales and mobile inspection of travel authorizations, covering the Deutschlandtarif (DTV) and various other association tariffs.

AMCON will supply MRB with Point Mobile PM85 devices — 150 mobile terminals running AMCON.MOBILE for sales and inspection purposes.

With AMCON.MOBILE, MRB inspection staff can verify traditional paper tickets, eTickets as static tokens (e.g., 2D barcodes on paper or smartphone), and electronic tickets on chip cards. The inspection process is fully digital, compliant with industry standards such as UIC 918.9, VDV-KA, and including Motics support.

The handling of increased fare charges (EBE) is also fully digital: inspection personnel capture personal data and verify it against identification documents. All EBE data is immediately transferred to the AMCON back-end system (HGS), where MRB staff can review, process, and automatically forward it to a debt collection service provider.
